First Session of the Alpha testing – Done!

On Monday 21/04 we visited with Omniscient & Omnivorous the Kaissacafe to play our first official session in Ennead.

Well...it wasn't that bad! :P

First of all I have to admit that after two glasses of sweet red wine, everything seems much better but still I must say I am quite hyped. The game went well, even though we had some complications that made us cut the session short.

Anyway... lets roll! ( pun intended :P )

For this first attempt we decided to try something generic enough so that we could try a multitude of different situations in the game. Omnivorous was the Narrator, me and Omniscient the players.

The plot revolved around an attempt to enter the Empire of Mithirriyal incognito. I was playing Seimon of Dragon's Perch, a Sjorlat Inquisitor of the Empire that had decided to preach Aethermarj's faith outside the Empire in order to redeem himself for the cruelties of the Inquisition, while Omniscient was playing Elyssa Anott , an Iset Dvetto, member of a trading caravan that had recently learned that her brother was captured by the Inquisition being accused of heresy.

In my case, I just want to return home while Elyssa wants to save her brother, however anyone entering the Empire through the wildlands has to either pass through the gate where Inquisitors interrogate anyone entering or leaving, or find a way to bypass the wall that isolated the Empire of Mithirriyal from the rest of the world. Elyssa for obvious reasons would not be allowed entrance, while Seimon wants to avoid recognition at all costs.

During this first session we introduced our characters, met each other and agreed on a common mission whereas Elyssa would help Seimon bypass the gates uninhibited, while he will escort Elyssa inside the Empire using his contacts as an Inquisitor.

We had some interesting moments like our first meeting, a closely avoided encounter with some thugs (courtesy of my character's unwillingness to part with his golden jewelry while casually strolling through a bad neighbourhood ) and a glimpse of a Cene Kahat-imbued guy that was stalking us.

It was fun. We managed to see some of the core aspects of the world as far as the setting is concerned, mainly the way people live in a village in the Apostate region, an Iset Dvetto caravan and some first experience with Aethermarjian faith.

Of course, our playtest did not only happen for sightseeing but also to try Fate in relation to our setting. As expected from a heavily roleplaying-friendly system I felt that it suited our purpose just fine. It did not slow down or in any case impede our game while it offered just the bare minimum mechanics we needed to get the story going with our mind to verisimilitude. Even though the actual character creation was not a stroll in the park, especially since your character is influenced mainly by what you actually want to play and not by some premade templates, it was very rewarding when tried in-game. Still, it is too early to judge the use of the system, since we did not have as many examples of its use as we would have wanted too.

We got our baptism through fire though!

I am looking forward to our second session where hopefully we will be able to extract more information ( have a mock battle or two ;-) ) and start formulating some basic updates we need to make so that our game will be fully emulated with Fate. ( for example finish the Magic system )

That's all for now!!

Omnipotent

P.S A very interesting fact was that Fate system was pretty famous in kaissakafe, there were people there already familiar with it. Gets me thinking...

P.S 2 Omniscient saw the need for props. As good the system is by itself, there is a need for items such as counters for fate points, cards, or something related, to jot down aspects and other minor things like that. She will upload a relative post soon!

Comicdom Con 2014 Report

Finally! Took a while but, at last, I managed to post this as well!

Comicdom Con – over! ( more than two weeks ago but..meh... )

I am not actually very sure but I do think I am talking for all three of us when I say that it was a fantastic experience!

First of all, before saying anything more than that, I want to really thank each and everyone that helped us, was there with us, talked to us or supported us. Thank you very much guys and girls for everything!

Being all three days there from dawn to dusk was very tiring, however it was very rewarding as well! We talked with many incredible people and got some extremely interesting advice ( first of all, the fonts on the cover are getting changed ASAP – the “d” is really unreadable! :P :P )

There is one last thing I want to address. Whoever was not bored to hell and managed to read anything from Ennead, we would love to have some information regarding of how it looked to you. Criticism is expected, wanted and needed!! Please do not refrain from commenting on anything you did not like, found not interesting, inappropriate , wrong or just plain weird. We are striving to make this idea better and we can only do that through your feedback.

Thank you very very much!!
Have a nice day!

Omnipotent

Facebook Page is up!

Greetings Mortals.

We just returned from Comicdom Con Day 2 and we thought it would be nice to set up the Facebook Page so you will be able track the blog's updates. You will find the page at https://www.facebook.com/EnneadOfficial

Being too tired though to do anything else, we are keeping this post short and to the point! Tommorow is the last day of the comic convention so at last after that  we will be able to get some days of respite. Omnipotent, for example, has vowed to sleep for at least 24 straight hours...I still wonder how he does that...

We hope to see you there!

P.S I could not leave without giving away a small preview. We will be posting a report on the Comicdom Con in the next few days and by the end of the next week the first in-setting related articles will be up! There will most probably be a general overview of the setting plus a few information regarding the inception of the project.

P.S.2 The team would like to thank all those who showed interest in our work. We hope we will live up to your expectations!

Greetings by Omnipotent!

Still here huh...

Allow me to introduce myself then. I am Omnipotent a.k.a the dude someone found sleeping by a dumpster. For the record, I did not choose my nickname...willingly...if you get what I mean. Anyway, with my fifteen seconds of shame passing, I welcome you to our blog! I hope you'll find in its contents something that interests you! ^_^

So, lets get started. Along with Omniscient and Omnivorous, two really really good friends, we decided to put our ideas on the paper, give it a shot and try to establish our own fantasy setting in order to make it a full fledged Pen n Paper RPG game. For the last six months we have been working really hard but we managed to get our first results. The mini core book we were planning is finished and we are currently presenting it at the Comicdom Con Athens 2014. Also, given this opportunity, I would like to warmly thank everyone that has helped us ( and is currently helping us ) with our project. There are people around us that have given their full support at the cost of their own free time. Thanks for that guys and girls! :P

In any case, I am keeping this first post very short and generic, firstly because I just woke up and I am holding my eyes open with toothpicks and secondly... because I am holding my eyes open with toothpicks. :-) Plus, today is day 2 of the comic convention and I am late...

I will return shortly with a report on the Comicdom Con experience and after that I am diving into the setting itself!!

See you at the con!!

So, it Begins...

Greetings, Mortals.

A little megalomania is in order no? No. Right. Well, let’s get to the point shall we?

Welcome to our new blog! Omniscient, Omnipotent & Omnivorous is a newly formed team of RPG enthusiasts from Greece that simultaneously and spontaneously decided to take up the torch of game design. We are full of ideas, hopefully at least 1% of which is marketable, and willing to give it a good shot.
Our current project is Ennead, a fantasy setting based on Fate, taking place on a flat world. A vast sea envelops a europe sized continent, upon which humans battle over political and theological stakes. It’s a peculiar meld of pervasive everyday magic combined with a lower supernatural index than standard fantasy fare. This blog will serve as focal point for news about our work (until we manage to move to a paid wordpress address, that is).

P.S.: Regarding Ennead, we will be presenting the setting in Greece’s 2014 Comicdom, which begins on Friday 4.4.2014, and we will be happy to see you there.

P.S.2:

A beautiful cover, truly beyond words.
